Life: Welcome to our family iPhone 5!

Good evening lovelies! We have been busy busy this last bit of September. Teaching 1st and 2nd grade has been fun. I love my kiddos and their cuteness. I've got some cute stuff to share that they've given me or made me, but I need to take pics and then I'll post.

Now, on to the awesomeness. Tim and I got the new iPhone 5s last Friday. IN WHITE. I've been waiting 2 YEARS for a white iPhone. It feels so good. They are the coolest and I am so excited to use it every day. When we got them, though, I was freaking out. The Apple Store didn't have ANY cases for the 5. Not a single one! I must have a case. I drop my stuff like nobodies business. I held on to that phone like it was a million bucks. We drove over to Target and TADA, there were cases. I slapped that baby on and felt so safe.

The one I chose was this Speck Blue Birds Case. It is adorable on my WHITE iPhone.

Then I got excited and went online and searched for some more cute cases and found this adorable Cuptakes Light Pink Chevron Case. I ordered it last Friday and it arrived the next Friday. The case is awesome and is my favorite so far. They have a ton of different styles that you can't get anywhere else. They also have a great app for the iPhone and iPad that I use. The calendars are always my lock screen pics.

In other news, Tim and I decided to join Weight Watchers. We haven't felt very motivated with the few diets and work out plans that we've tried. There is a local Weight Watchers office where we can go to meetings and weigh in. We start this week. The great part is that I can track everything on my phone through their app and I don't have to worry about carrying around a little book and calculator. Wish us luck. :]

Until next time!

Life: Finally under control...I think...

Life seems to be coming together. I've got all my school stuff together, life stuff together, and soon etsy stuff together. :]

Here are some pics of how life is going...

1. My husband decided a while back that he was going to use this cute plush zebra, who we lovingly call Zooey, and hide her every night before we go to bed. I find it super cute and at the same time super annoying. :] The other night I found her on my vase on a hanging shelf. What a weirdo!

2. I have this really bad habit of twirling my hair. ALL. THE. TIME. It's to the point where I think I might be going crazy. Thankfully I have a ton of hair and when some falls out from twirling for hours I still have a full head of hair. Timmy and I were watching TV the other night and he saw me twirling my hair, so he picked up a few strands and started twirling it with me. I guess he felt left out.

3. I've been stalking this hair tie designer for a while. Her shop is called Knotieties and I adore her stuff. I finally bought some of her stuff from one of her Monday night sales that she does from her Facebook account. They came in the mail earlier this week and I have been wearing a few each day!

4. We took school pictures the other day and they finally came in. The teachers always get an ID to hang on their lanyard. I just love how this years photo came out so I thought I would share. AND yes I am still married. They put MS. instead of MRS., oh well. :]

5. This was my favorite part of this week. I received my first apple of the year from one of my students. She was so sweet and said she just thought I needed a red apple for my desk. I love my kiddos.

I hope y'alls week was as sweet as mine.

God Bless

Almost that time again...

School starts in 2 weeks, but I have to go back before that for meetings and getting my room ready.

Timmy graduates soon and then leaves for more training in Texas. He has two more tests to take and then DONE! It's crazy how fast that year and a half went. I feel like I just moved here.

Today I've been thinking about my Timmy a lot and kept peeking at this photo. I am going to miss him, but this is the next part of our Air Force life. God is in control.

DIY: Framed Key to Our 1st Place Together

Tim and I have been married for over a year now and it has been wonderful. I have a love/hate relationship with living in California, though.

I love the weather here, my job, our place, the surroundings.

But, we are 2,000 miles away from home. I get homesick a lot, but I am reminded daily that I want to be here. I want to be where my husband is. And for right now we are here.

Our "apartment" is so cute. I love how small (I like to call it nooky, but Tim doesn't like when I call it that) and homey it is. We don't have a stove/oven, but we made do by buying a mini burner thingy and a countertop oven. They have saved our lives.

I was thinking the other day that once we leave this place we will probably never be back. We might visit for a vacation here and there, but never really come back and enjoy this area the way we have for over a year now.

I wanted to remember our stay here (besides the thousands of photos I've taken). So, I made a cute little frame with the key to our place in it. That way no matter where we go next we will never forget our time in California.

So here's how to make one for your home.

Materials:

  • small frame (they just happen to have some right now in the Michael's so-called dollar section...that's where I got mine)

  • hot glue gun

  • scissors

  • scrapbook paper OR Photoshop to make the background

  • a spare key to your house

  • spray paint OR any paint

1st I made the background in Photoshop elements. I put in the dimensions of the frame and got to work. I picked out a cute background and added the sweet text at the bottom. Now, if you don't have Photoshop then all you have to do is use scrapbook paper OR any paper for that matter and cut it to fit the frame.

Then you will need to put it in the frame. I then spray painted my key with the spray paint that I had leftover from another project. Once dry I hot glued it to the outside of the frame (the glass part).

And TADA! You have just made a memory!

Please comment with any other DIY projects you would like to see.

God Bless!

P.S.

I learned how to make the watermarks on my photos by using this tutorial!
